PRESENTATION: This webinar will provide an overview of the Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) certification in New Hampshire. The presenters, representing the NH Prevention Certification Board, will review the steps an applicant must take in order to apply for the CPS credential and how an applicant can access assistance throughout the application process. By participating in this webinar, participants will:
* Understand the background and meaning of the CPS credential.
* Be prepared to begin the CPS application process.
* Know how to find answers to questions about the CPS credential and application process.

PRESENTER: Katy Shea has a Master’s in Public Health and is a Certified Prevention Specialist. She has been a member of the NH Prevention Certification Board since 2014 and has been working in the public health prevention field for over ten years. Over the past four years, Ms. Shea has been the Prevention Program Manager for the New Hampshire Center for Excellence; a resource center for best practices in alcohol and drug prevention and treatment services in New Hampshire. Shea’s expertise is in community-based participatory assessment and providing planning and evaluation assistance in support of effective community-level prevention initiatives.
Marissa Carlson is the Executive Director of the NH Teen Institute, a leadership development nonprofit working with middle & high school students from around NH & New England in a variety of areas including substance abuse prevention, peer mentoring, and creating positive school & community climate. Outside of her work with TI, Marissa is the Associate Artistic Director of Mill City Productions, a theatre company in Western Massachusetts. She graduated from Pomona College, and has been a Certified Prevention Specialist since 2011.
