PRESENTATION: This training is for Behavioral Health Professionals who want to improve their assessment and treatment approaches to those suffering with co-occurring Depression, Bipolar and Substance Use Related Disorders. This training will review the various assessment techniques that guide accurate differential-diagnosis of the Depressive and Bipolar Related Disorders; and how these disorders uniquely impact the treatment and recovery for those with addiction. The impact of initial and ongoing assessment will be emphasized throughout the training and a review of DSM-5 criteria and empirically based therapies will be discussed; including those related to psychopharmacological therapies. As a result of attending this training participants will be able to: Gain clarity of the differential diagnostic process as it relates to depressive and bipolar related disorders among co-occurring treatment population; Identify the common mental health symptoms that are exacerbated by addiction and its impact on treatment planning; Identify what symptoms and individual characteristics are best treated with pharmacological interventions; Review of the current pharmacological treatments related to this population; and Identify issues related to relapse related to this treatment population.
PRESENTER: Dr. Danielle Moreggi has been providing psychological services since 1997 and has been a licensed Clinical Psychologist for over 14 years. In her private practice, she provides psychotherapy, assessment, and professional consultative services; with an expertise in training professionals in psychopathology and psychopharmacology. Dr. Moreggi’s primary areas of expertise are in the assessment of ADHD and other learning disabilities, psychopathology, trauma, addiction, and working with young adults. Dr. Moreggi is also a national and highly respected professional trainer and educator in the field of Co-occurring Disorders; and has provided professional trainings for a variety of professionals. She has served as Adjunct Faculty for the New England Institute of Addiction Studies (NEIAS) since 1998, continues to serve as faculty for the University of New Haven since 2001 and is an experienced administrator in higher education. Dr. Moreggi is currently practicing and teaching in Connecticut, and continues to specialize in the assessment and treatment of psychological disorders.
