The Substance Abuse Counselor is the central point person for all aspects of patient care. S/he is the first line of clinical decision-making, working closely with physicians on prescribing and clinic coordinators on administrative matters.

The Substance Abuse Counselor has three main areas of responsibility:
- Facilitate weekly group therapy sessions using the Recover Together curriculum:document patients’ clinical progress; share learnings based on patient progress and feedback, with rest of clinical team; contribute to ongoing evolution of curriculum based on direct experience, new research and industry best practices
- Provide individual patient support as needed: evaluate patients’ progress and continued fit for the program; help patients access additional services (e.g., co-morbidities, social services); liaise with third parties (e.g., corrections, family services)
- Conduct intakes for new patients: gather relevant medical and drug use history; describe program and set expectations for participation in Recover Together

Formal qualifications that we look for include:
Minimum two years experience with group counseling and addiction treatment
Comfortable working with technology including electronic health records, email, and software and mobile apps (e.g., Google Apps)
Some availability on weekday evenings (between 5-8PM)
Bachelor’s degree; LADC, CADC, LCMHC or LCSW
