Position for Hire: Adolescent Co-Occurring Intensive Outpatient Program Counselor

Status: Part-time position, approximately 25 hours a week, Monday through Friday.
This position fulfills the clinical and administrative duties required for the adolescent
IOP, carries an assigned caseload of IOP participants with Substance Use Disorders and
Mental Health Disorders. Duties include working in cooperation with the IOP clinical director.
This individual provides education, crisis intervention, case management and assists with
discharge planning. Facilitating group therapy is the core clinical duty of this position. Candidate
should be familiar with adventure-based therapy and mindfulness-based interventions.
Offers all clinical aspects of facilitating the adolescent IOP groups.
Complies with necessary documentation for all administrative aspects of the
adolescent IOP, including brief evaluative client group progress notes.
Provides treatment planning, clinical treatment, therapeutic interventions and discharge
planning, as well as monitors client progress.
Applies the Stages of Change Theory, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy and other effective therapeutic
approaches, including DBT.
All record-keeping is maintained professionally as required.
Attends and actively participates in staff meetings, clinical case reviews and weekly
Works effectively with individuals of different backgrounds, opinions and perceptions,
including outpatient clients, staff and referral sources.
Remains calm in challenging situations and makes sound judgments.
Builds rapport and relates well to adolescents.
Demonstrates awareness and utilization of best practice principles.
Demonstration of a high level of cultural competence, sensitivity and responsiveness.
This position requires a clinician trained and experienced in co-occurring treatment. The
minimum of a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Clinical Counseling, Social Work or other related
Human Services concentration is desired. LADC or MLADC licensed or eligible for licensure is
a plus as is LCHMC or LICSW licensure or eligibility. It is desired that this counselor
demonstrate competency with regard to alcohol and other drug abuse treatment, as well as
mental health to address, plan and provide co-occurring services.
