A 6 hour training event with Taylor D'Addario

8:30am – 4:00pm on October 24, 2019

PRESENTATION:  Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a cognitive behavioral treatment that was originally developed to treat chronically suicidal individuals diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and it is now recognized as the gold standard psychological treatment for this population. In addition, research has shown that it is effective in treating a wide range of other disorders such as substance dependence, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and eating disorders.  DBT can be conceptualized as affect regulation techniques.  As a result of attending this training participants will:
  •  Describe the elements and application of DBT;
  • Learn to effectively use the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) manual;
  • Understand what behaviors DBT addresses;
  • Learn how to teach DBT skills to clients; and
  • Learn to facilitate a DBT skill building group

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:  Taylor D’Addario is a Grant Manager and Consultant who provides state departments and mental health agencies technical assistance around developing substance use programs.  Taylor received her bachelor’s degree from The University of Rhode Island in 2012 and is pursuing her Master’s degree at Salve Regina University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.  Besides consulting, Taylor works as Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) Grant Manager and is a Licensed Substance Use counselor.  After having success implementing and developing SBIRT programs in various settings like emergency departments, urgent cares, psychiatric hospitals and the department of corrections, Taylor decided to start providing technical assistance to other providers across New England.   Taylor also provides clinical training for Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Care, Reducing Stigma and SBIRT.
