1 Hour Webinar Training with Kelly Reardon, M.Ed., MLADC

PRESENTATIONThe dynamic work of treating individuals who struggle with substance use disorders is challenging, rewarding, frustrating, and stressful. A counselor’s skill base needs to be solid and comprehensive. This webinar is designed to provide individuals with the basic tools and understanding of the first step in becoming a competent substance abuse counselor.

Upon completion of this webinar, and individual will have the knowledge of:

  1. The signs and symptoms of substance abuse
  2. The difference between eligible and appropriate for an agency’s program
  3. How to rule out potential co-existing conditions
  4. The laws, regulations, policies surrounding treating substance use disorders
  5. How to be a skillful listener; and
  6. Keeping necessary records during the screening process

ABOUT THE PRESENTERKelly is the full time Associate Professor of Human Service at New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, NH. She has been in the profession of substance use counseling for over a decade, most recently serving as Chief of Operations and Clinical Officer at Serenity Place in Manchester, NH for the past 3 years. Kelly has worked in the treatment continuum from prevention, to detoxification, sobriety maintenance, medically assisted treatment, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and transitional living. She has served the community as an outreach worker, clinician, senior administrator, and educator. Currently, Kelly gives back to the community through her role as Secretary of NHADACA, as the liaison for NHADACA and the NH Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse Professionals Licensing Board, and by serving on the Peer Review Committee for the NH Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse Professionals Licensing Board. Kelly currently has her Master’s in Education/Counseling and is a Master level Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor. Her education ventures continue with her pursuit of her CAGS in Mental Health Counseling from Rivier University where she then hopes to begin her Doctorate program in Clinical Psychology in the fall of 2014. When Kelly isn’t lending her time to students or the substance abuse community, she enjoys exercising by running 5K’s to marathons, Bikram Yoga, traveling to warm climates, and cooking anything out of her vegetable and herb garden.
