1 Hour Webinar Training with Theresa Gleason RN, BSN, MA

PRESENTATIONUnderstanding the physiological and psychological dynamics of withdrawal from substances can help us to better support our clients as they progress through the predictably unpredictable phase of early recovery. Many of the symptoms our clients experience while unpleasant are completely normal. As clinicians, recovery support workers and coaches we are in a unique position to educate, provide reassurance and offer suggestions for coping with both acute and post-acute withdrawal. Together we will explore medical and non-medical interventions to ease distress and enhance comfort.

Participants will:

  1. Name the signs and symptoms of acute withdrawal
  2. Identify detoxification protocols for the management of acute withdrawal
  3. Explain the role of comfort medications in the treatment of withdrawal
ABOUT THE PRESENTER Theresa Gleason RN, BSN, MA is a psychiatric nurse and a recovery coach. She believes in a holistic approach to client care. She gained her experience in the field of addiction treatment at Gosnold on Cape Cod where she worked as a Health and Wellness Specialist in their 28 day inpatient drug and alcohol treatment center. She saw firsthand the challenges facing clients in early recovery and the importance of educating clients about PAWS. It is imperative for clients to develop coping strategies to address PAWS symptoms when they resurface.
