PRESENTATIONThis training is designed to teach Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment Providers and Child Protective Service Workers (CPSW’s) how to work together to support their mutual clients. By gaining an understanding of how the different systems (SUD Treatment & DCYF) function, participants will have an increased ability to help their clients navigate their recovery and DCYF case plans. As a result of attending this training, participants will:  gain an understanding the DCYF process and the American Safe Families Act (ASFA) timeline; gain an understanding of various treatment options and recovery supports available to families involved with DCYF; learn about coordination of care for clients while maintaining their rights under HIPPA and 42CFR; and learn tips on how to engage and support families to help them achieve DCYF case plan goals.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:  Jennifer Ross has worked for the Division for Children, Youth and Families for 25 years.  She worked as a CPSW conducting assessments of abuse and neglect, an Assistant Supervisor overseeing assessments, a District Office Supervisor in the Manchester district office for 12 years and for the past two years is a Child Protection Field Administrator.  She has years of experience in working with children and families who have experienced abuse and neglect, and has trained new CPSWs on the assessment and investigation of abuse and neglect.  Jennifer also provides ongoing training to community partners regarding the work of DCYF and has a passion for the work DCYF does with families.  Shanna Large, MS, LCMHC has worked in the Substance Use Disorder Field for over 10 years providing care for clients from detox, residential care as well as multiple outpatient therapy settings. She has been working as the Director of Substance Use Disorders, The Choices program, at Riverbend Community Mental Health since July 2017 where she has been part of restructuring and growing the treatment program to cover a full spectrum of services.  Shanna is trained in Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Therapy, Moral Recognition Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.  She also serves as a member of the Disaster Behavioral Health Response Team and on the Governor’s Task Force for Treatment.  Shanna enjoys being part of the solution and is excited for the opportunity to be on the front lines of care for this high risk population.  Amy Kelly, LICSW, MLADC, LCS has been working with individuals who have co-occurring disorders for more than (20) years.  Ms. Kelly has worked as a consultant for the New Hampshire Division for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) in the Manchester area for the past twelve years.   In 2019, she became the Clinical Supervisor of the Project First Step Program, a program designed to help parents, involved with DCYF, with their substance use and mental health disorders.    In this position, she provides clinical guidance to other MLADC consultants, DCYF Administrators and field staff.  She also acts as a liaison for community providers and offers addiction training to DCYF field staff and community partners.
