1 Hour Webinar Training with Paul Kiernan, LADC

PRESENTATION: This 1-hour webinar will provide participants with an understanding of the very basics of the ASAM criteria. The training will also briefly touch on continuing care and transfer/discharge criteria. As a result of watching this 1-hour webinar you will leave with an understanding of:

  1. The spirit of ASAM, a basic understanding of the 6 dimensions and levels of care;
  2. Be able to identify the different levels of care; and
  3. Better understand how an assessment can be used for care planning.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER:  Paul Kiernan is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor, licensed with the State of New Hampshire.  Mr. Kiernan has been working in the field treating addictive disorders since 2007. He has provided direct clinical services in residential withdrawal management, outpatient counseling, and Intensive Outpatient services.  Paul provided a variety of services in these settings including group and individual counseling, case management, evaluation and assessment, crisis management, referral, hospital-based consultation, and psychoeducation. 

Mr. Kiernan has extensive training in Motivational Interviewing, Treatment planning and the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria.  He has also provided training to direct service clinicians from all over the state of New Hampshire, primarily in the ASAM Criteria and its application. Mr. Kiernan previously worked as the Clinical Service specialist providing training, auditing clinical records, and consultation.   Paul now works as a project manager for JSI, providing consulting and subject matter expertise on  substance use disorders and the application of The American Society of Addiction Medicine Criteria.  Mr. Kiernan has created clinical tools, provided extensive training, support and consultation for the New Hampshire substance use disorder treatment system.

Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. NHADACA is solely responsible for all aspects of the program.
