A 6-hour training with Joseph Zannella, MA, LADC

December 16, 2022

8:30am–4:00pm

This training will be remote only.

PRESENTATION: Personality Disorders are often regarded as difficult to treat. Adding to this, a client’s use of substances complicates both diagnosis and treatment and interferes with long term recovery. Opioid use is frequently paired with other substances of abuse and is often co-occurring with stimulants. High potency man-made Opiates are newsworthy, but we still have stimulant abuse such as Cocaine, PCP and Amphetamines to deal with. This training is designed to address clients with Personality Disorders that are using Opioids and/or Stimulants.  The course content is intended to advance your understanding of diagnosing and treatment, and what specific problems and issues arise from multiple diagnoses and miss-diagnosis. Examples of diagnostic tools will be covered, as well as aftercare issues and ideas for improving outcomes. Participants will:

  • Learn how to identify and differentiate several overlapping diagnoses in general, and specific to opioid and stimulant using individuals.
  • Gain an understanding of how Multiple Diagnoses complicates Recovery.
  • Review aftercare exercises and techniques that improve outcomes and reduce relapse.
  • Review the medications that are available including M.A.T. and the hazards of THC use with Mental Health diagnoses.
