It was almost a full house, and a nail-biter as the State Representatives were presented with a handful of amendments surrounding HB 1696 – Medicaid Expansion for substance use disorder.
New Hampshire House of Representatives votes in favor of continuing Medicaid Expansion, substance use disorder treatment
On March 9th 2016, the New Hampshire House of Representatives voted 216 to 145 in favor of reauthorizing the New Hampshire Health Protection Program. The program would continue health insurance coverage for nearly 48,000 Granite Staters. Approximately 6,700 of those individuals will likely access treatment services for substance use disorders. The New Hampshire Health Protection Program is the single-most important tool NH has to address its drug and alcohol crisis.
New Futures applauds the House of Representatives for supporting a practical and bipartisan response to our drug and alcohol epidemic. On behalf of our constituents, New Futures urges the State Senate to show commensurate leadership and reauthorize the New Hampshire Health Protection Program.
