PRESENTATION: What is stigma and how does it affect people with substance use disorder. This training will discuss how making a small change in how we speak and write about substance use disorder will make a huge impact. We will go in depth with positive person-centered language. Everyone can play a part in turning the tide on the epidemic in NH, this training will educate you on how to talk about substance use disorder. We will also look at resources for Medication Assisted Recovery and how to make decisions regarding it. As a result of this webinar participants will be able to:
- Define stigma
- Learn new terminology when talking about Substance use disorder
- Learn about resources for Medication Assisted Recovery/Treatment
PRESENTER: Cheryle is a woman in long-term recovery from alcohol and other drugs for 27+ years. She is currently a Project Director at Harbor Homes responsible for development of Recovery Community Organizations statewide. Cheryle has been training the CCAR RCA in NH since 2014. She worked as the Community Engagement Director at New Futures. Cheryle previously worked as a Program Manager for Recovery Housing, Director of Operations, and the Director of Recovery Services at CT Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) from 2004-2012. During her time at CCAR she managed three Recovery Community Centers, Telephone Recovery Support Program, Recovery Housing Program, Volunteer Services, Recovery Coach Training, Recovery Training Series, and Recovery Walks. She is the co-owner of Stepping Stone House, a transitional living home for men in recovery seeking to transition from treatment and jail back into mainstream society. Cheryle has been providing and implementing recovery support services for over 15. Cheryle has a passion for helping others to maintain and sustain their recovery.
