On an ongoing basis, the SUD clinician works collaboratively with his/her supervisor and other staff to further develop and improve SUD services using a harm-reduction approach. This entails being abreast of current research, assessment of the program’s strengths and areas of growth, and addressing the needs of the clients. Facilitates or co-facilitates SUD treatment groups. Will develop an individual treatment plan with clients and provide individual SUD counseling and therapy to clients. Referrals are made to appropriate community resources as needed. Provide and monitor treatment services in a manner that preserves the participant’s dignity and builds on his/her independent functioning. A central part of this work is building and structuring a “natural” support system with sober/healthy family, friends, neighbors, employers, organizations, and other groups or individuals who wish to be involved and helpful. The SUD clinician may be called upon to provide training, guidance and supervision to other employees re: SUD.
