Kimberly Fortin
Why are you nominating this individual?
"I am nominating Kimberly because I have seen firsthand the impact she has on both individuals in recovery and the professionals around her.
Kimberly is someone who helped build the foundation for how I practice as a recovery coach. She taught me what it means to show up for people in a real and ethical way. Her guidance around ethical decision making, boundaries, and how to truly support individuals without judgment has had a lasting impact on my work and growth in this field.
What stands out about Kimberly is that she does not just talk about good practice, she models it every day. Whether she is working with justice-involved individuals, coordinating care across systems, or supporting others in the field, she brings consistency, integrity, and a strong sense of purpose to everything she does.
She has also demonstrated leadership early in her career in ways that are meaningful and impactful. From completing the Building Futures Together program and returning as a mentor, to serving as a CRSW Supervisor and supporting workforce development, she is actively contributing to the growth of the field, not just participating in it.
Kimberly has a strong ability to navigate complex systems and advocate for individuals who often fall through the cracks. She does not accept barriers as the end point. She works through them, pushes systems when needed, and makes sure the people she supports are not left without options.
She also has a unique ability to connect with people. She meets individuals where they are at, builds trust quickly, and creates a space where people feel respected and understood. That is something that cannot be taught, and it is a big part of why she is so effective in her work.
Kimberly represents what an emerging leader should be. She is driven, ethical, compassionate, and committed to making real change. She continues to grow while also lifting others up around her.
I truly believe she is deserving of the Emerging Leader in Healing & Recovery Award."
