A 5 hour training event with Lee Anne Dodge, MEd, CPS
8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (registration begins at 8:00 a.m.)
PRESENTATION: This training will focus on the risks of youth vaping and marijuana use and strategies to address the issues. Nicotine and marijuana can have a significant impact on brain development and can have serious short-term and long-term consequences. Prevention, intervention, and treatment efforts are essential in tackling this growing problem.
- Participants will become more familiar with vaping/e-cigarette devices and marketing strategies.
- Participants will learn about the risks of nicotine and marijuana on the developing brain.
- Participants will learn about prevention, intervention, and treatment strategies to address the growing concern regarding youth use.
PRESENTER: Lee Anne Dodge has a Master’s Degree in Adult and Higher Education, is a Certified Prevention Specialist, and a Prime For Life instructor for Maine’s Driver Education and Evaluation Program. She is the program director for one of the 18 Drug Free Communities in Maine: SoPo Unite-in South Portland. She has worked in the substance use prevention field for over 25 years with a focus on using environmental strategies to reduce substance use in communities and on college campuses. She coordinated wellness and substance use prevention and intervention at the University of Southern Maine and facilitated the BASICS program (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students). She serves on Maine’s Prevention Certification Board and has served on Maine’s Governor’s Substance Abuse Services Commission and was an associate with the Center for the Application of Prevention Technologies and has taught the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training. Lee Anne grew up in Walpole, N.H. and worked at the University of New Hampshire in Residential Life and the New Hampshire Teen Institute.
