PRESENTATION: This training will introduce recovery support workers to concepts of providing trauma informed care to the populations we serve.  We will define trauma and discuss common symptoms, cognitive changes and behavioral changes that can result from trauma. We will present ways to recognize cues and best respond in a supportive and empathetic way. As a result of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Gain insight into long term effects of trauma; and
  • Understand how to be mindful and aware of different techniques we can use to minimize trauma responses within our recoverees.
